Womens Sr One-Day Trophy: Odisha qualify for PQFs
06 Nov 2021

Odisha qualified for the knock-out stage of the BCCI Womens Senior One-Day Trophy despite suffering an eight-wicket drubbing at the hands of title favourites Railways in their fifth and last Elite Group-B match at Azam Campus in Pune today.

Odisha finished second in their group with 16 points, winning four matches and losing one. Odisha will play their pre-quarterfinal match against the second top team of Elite Group-E in Bangalore on 13 November 2021.

Opting to bat against Railways after captain Madhusmita Behera won the toss, Odisha were bowled out for a modest 107 in 47.4 overs. Against the formidable Railway bowling attack, Odisha were reeling at 64 for seven before a 39-run partnership for the eighth wicket between Madhusmita and Rasanara Parwin save them from complete collapse.

Madhusmita top scored with an 83-ball 25, while Rasanara contributed a 25-ball 21. Ekta Bisht was the most successful bowler for Railways, bagging four wickets for 10 runs, while Renuka Singh and T Sarkar picked up a brace each.

In reply, Railways lost two wickets for 24 runs before a partnership of 85 runs for the unfinished third wicket between Punam Raut and T Sarkar enabled them to clinch the clinical win in the 21st over. Punam was the top scorer with an unconquered 59.
