African XI emerged champions in the 2nd All-India Neelachal Express Football Tournament, defeating local favourites Sports Academy Jatni in the final by 2-0 goals at Railway Stadium in Jatni today. The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the runner-up side Rs 30,000.

East Coast Railway Chief Mechanical Engineer Prem Chandra handed over the trophy. As many as 11 teams participated in the tournament, which was organised by East Coast Railway Sports Association, Khurda Road Division.

RESULTS:
May 21 (SF-1): Sports Academy Jatni (Akhilesh Top) beat Yazdani Club-73 1-0.
May 22 (SF-2): African XI (David Etim, Olaleye Joseph, Okam Chidiebere, Ifeanyi Nulankulu) beat South Eastern Railway, Chakradharpur 4-0.
May 23 (Final): African XI (Amos Nathanid, Oweleso Abbey) beat Sports Academy Jatni 2-0.

INDIVIDUAL PRIZES:
Man of the final: Sk Alam (Sports Academy, Jatni), Best forwarder: Amos Nathanid (African XI), Best defender: Sk Rajan (Sports Academy, Jatni), Best goalkeeper: Jagannath Maharana (Sports Academy, Jatni).
