Cuttack SAI Hostel shifted to renovated building
24 Apr 2015 CUTTACK

Cuttack-based Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre, the oldest sports hostel in Eastern region, officially shifted from the old gallery complex to a renovated building of dormitory inside Barabati Stadium campus today.
The shifting was done according to an MOU singed between Odisha Olympic Association (OOA) and State Sports Department, on behalf of SAI earlier on August 8, 2013.

According to a press release by OOA, the old hostel was insufficient to accommodate all the inmates and SAI authorities had planned to take the hostel out of Cuttack and preferably to Bhubaneswar. But on the request of the inmates and coaches, OOA agreed to provide the entire dormitory building, located near by, free of cost. The State Sports Department also agreed to bear the renovation cost and the electricity charges as per use by the inmates.

A total of 150 inmates, including women, have shifted to the renovated dormitory building, which has the capacity to accommodate 300 inmates. Due to paucity of accommodation facility, women trainees hitherto were staying at the J N Indoor Stadium, located one kilo metre from Barabati Stadium.
