A modern archery centre and gymnasium was inaugurated last week at Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium here by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) Chief Executive Officer G S Prasad. Set up by RSP and known as ‘Dhanurvidya Kendra’, the centre boasts of state-of-the-art facilities for archers. It will provide intensive training to local talents and groom them for national and international events.

Initially 10 boys and 10 girls have been identified for training. The gymnasium complex has wide-ranging equipments, including electronic treadmills and specialized exercise cycles. The facility will not only serve the employees of the steel plant but also sportspersons of the city.

It is worth mentioning that RSP has been promoting sporting talents in the region in a big way and giving them a platform to showcase their talents. The SAIL Hockey academy, run by RSP, is one of the best coaching centres in the country.
