  Hockey Gangpur-Odisha win maiden Jr Natl title

High-flying Hockey Gangpur-Odisha won the B Division title in the 5th Hockey India Junior National Championship, outclassing Bengal Hockey Association 4-2 in the final at Mysore today. Sibren Lakra starred in the victory with a hat-trick.

This was the maiden title triumph for Gangpur-Odisha, who ended their campaign with seven wins in a row. Displaying excellent scoring ability they pumped in a total of 62 goals, while conceding just seven. Earlier in the semifinals, Gangpur-Odisha beat Mumbai Hockey Association 3-1.
 

They bulldozed into the semifinals, winning all of their five league matches in Pool D, defeating Bihar 7-1, Rajasthan 21-0, Chandigarh 5-3, Assam 15-0 and Hockey Patiala 7-0. ``Hard work and attacking hockey helped our boys win the title,`` said Hockey Gangpur-Odisha secretary general Debasish Gouda.

April 4: Hockey Gangpur Odisha (Sushil Ekka 1st, 31st, 36th; Rasananda Khalkho 2nd, 10th, 42nd; Sanjay Xalxo 18th, 39th, 44th; Dillip Lakra 27th, 57th; Sudeep Kerketta 33rd; Andand Ekka 34th, 65th; Pratap Lakra 41st; Abhishek Lakra 47th; Sibren Lakra 54th, 63rd, 70th; Gregory Xess 59th; Binit Ekka 68th) beat Hockey Rajasthan 21-0.
April 6: Hockey Gangpur-Odisha (Rasananda Khalkho 8th, 66th; Sushil Eakka 24th, Pratap Lakra 48th, Sudip Kerketta 53rd) beat Chandigarh Olympic Association (Gursewak Singh 20th, Harmanpreet Singh 42nd, Sanjay 65th) 5-3.
April 9: Hockey Gangpur Odisha (Sushil Ekka 5th, Rasananda Khalkho 6th, 8th; Abhishek Lakra 11th, 66th; Arbin Kujur 21st; Sanjay Xalxo 27th, 32nd, 39th; Sudeep Kerketta 37th, 46th; Sibren Lakra 43rd, 48th; Andand Ekka 52nd, 54th) bt Assam Hockey 15-0.
April 10: Hockey Gangpur-Odisha (Pratap Lakra 10th, 52nd; Abhisek Lakra 27th, 66th; Sanjay Xalxo 40th; Sudeep Kerketta 67th, 68th) beat Hockey Patiala 7-0.

April 12 (Final): Hockey Gangpur-Odisha (Sibren Lakra 20th, 40th, 55 th; Sanjay Xalxo 66th) beat Bengal HA (Ninish 10th, Gurpreet 55th) 4-2.
