East Coast Railways emerged champions in the 2nd Chandan Cup All-India Women`s Football Tournament with a clinical 2-0 win over Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel in the final at Baramunda ground here today.
Manisha Panna and Lochana Munda of the champion team were adjudged the player of the tournament and final match respectively. The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and the runner-up team Rs 10,000. The tournament was organised by Odisha Veer Mahasangha.
RESULTS:
March 22 (1st QF): Cuttack (Suprita Kar, Surekha Samantaray, Sunita Dey) beat West Bengal 3-0.
March 23 (2nd QF): East Coast Railway (Sangita Patra 11th, Sasmita Ekka 64th) beat Bihar 2-0.
March 24 (1st SF): East Coast Railway (Jhili Munda 45th) beat Cuttack XI 1-0.
March 25 (3rd QF): Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel (Jasmani Samad 69th) beat Kendrapada (Meneka Mallick 51st) 6-5 in penalty shoot out. Full-time 1-1.
March 26 (4 th QF): Sundargarh (Pyari Xaxa 2nd, 18th; Sukumati Laguri 20th, 36th; Manisha Tirkey 6th, Kapura Bashra 44th) beat Jharkhand 6-0.
March 27 (2nd SF): Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel (Jasamani Samad 51st) beat Sundargarh 1-0.
March 28 (Final): East Coast Railway (Sasmita Ekka 8th, Lochana Munda 22nd) beat Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel 2-0.
