Western Railway achieved a glorious hat-trick by winning the title for the third time in a row in the All-India Railway Men`s Hockey Championship, the 73rd edition of which concluded here at Kalinga Stadium Hockey Complex today. In a repeat of last year`s final, Western Railway beat Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala) 2-0.

Western Railway owed their victory to Odisha defender Amit Rohidas, who gave them the lead, converting a penalty corner in the 16th minute. Vinod Kumar sealed the match in their favour, scoring a field goal in the 54th minute. Central Railway finished third, getting the better of South Central Railway 6-3 earlier in the day.

Odisha Governor S C Jamir handed over the trophy and medals in the presence of host East Coast Railway`s General Manager Rajiv Vishnoi. Malak Singh of Western Railway was adjudged the player of the tournament.
