  Foundation laid for MCL Sports Complex at Burla

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of a modern sports complex, worth Rs 25 crore, at Burla near here today. The complex is being funded by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) under its CSR to promote sporting talents in the state.

MCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director, A N Sahay, Director (Technical-Operations) A K Tiwari and Director (Technical-Projects & Planning) Jaswinder Pal Singh were present on the occasion.

 

The international-standard sports complex will have swimming pool and a water sports centre with multi-purpose indoor hall, an outdoor stadium with athletic track, football field, peripheral jogging track, 50-beded hostel each for boys and girls, accommodation/guesthouse facility for staff, foreign coaches and scientists.

Out of total Rs 25 crore approved amount, MCL had released Rs 79.85 lakh for construction of compound wall in the current financial year work on which is in full swing. Sambalpur Collector is the custodian of the CSR fund and the construction is being undertaken by PWD, Bargarh Division.
