  Odisha U-19 boys suffer innings defeat

Odisha under-19 boys suffered an innings 396-run defeat at the hands of Punjab on the third day of their four-day Cooch Behar Trophy Group-C league match at Dhruve Pandove Stadium in Patiala today.

Resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 504 for five, host Punjab gained a massive lead of 481 runs after being all out for 656. The Odisha team, which compiled a modest total of 165 in the first innings, made a meek surrender in the second essay, getting dismissed for 95.

Punjab owed their huge victory to captain Anmolpreet Singh, who slammed a majestic 264 (323b, 39x4, 2x6) and off-spinner Sukhwinder Singh, who returned with a match haul of 10 wickets for 81 runs.

The win fetched Punjab seven points, while Odisha drew blank. This was the first defeat in three matches for Odisha, who will next meet Gujarat from November 29.
