  Vikash School lift Praharaj Memorial Trophy

Viksha Residential School (VRS) of Bargarh emerged champions in the 1st Harmohan Praharaj Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament, defeating Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) of Bhubaneswar by 10 runs in the final at Ispat Stadium here today.

Amit Rout of VRS bagged four wickets for 26 runs to be adjudged the man of the match. His teammate Mohammed Yasin received the prize as the man of the tournament.

Deepika Mahila Sangati president Manjari Prasad handed over the trophy in the presence of Rourkela Steel Plant DGMs Sasawat Tripathi, Rehman Khan and host Rourkela Gymkhana secretary R Srikanth. The champion and runners-up schools took home cash prizes of Rs 7,500 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

 

Rourkela Gymkhana organised the tournament, under the aegis of Odisha Cricket Association and with the support of Rourkela Steel Plant at Ispat Stadium in Rourkela from October 28, in the memory of former Odisha Ranji team captain Harmohan Praharaj.

The tournament was inaugurated by Rourkela Steel Plant General Manager in-charge T K Pradhan. Host Rourkela Gymkhana secretary R Srikanth, hockey Olympian Michael Kindo, cycling Arjuna Awardee Minati Mohapatra and former Odisha cricketers Rabi Narayan Panda, Abinash Khatua and Pannalal Bose were present in the opening ceremony.
