Odisha gained three points by taking a first-innings lead of 122 runs against Madhya Pradesh in their drawn three-day Group A match of the Bhausaheb Nimbalkar Trophy All-India Cricket Tournament at PYC Hindu Gymkhana ground in Pune on today. MP settled with one point.

Put into bat, Odisha rode on a century by Aravind Singh and a half-century each by Ranjit Singh and new captain Abhilash Mallick to muster a healthy total of 399. Ranjit, however, missed the three-figure mark by seven runs. Among other successful Odisha batsmen, Anurag Sarangi missed his fifty by one run, while Pratik Das and Basant Mohanty made useful contributions. Mihir Hirwani was the most successful bowler for MP, bagging four wickets for 120 runs.

In reply, MP were dismissed for 277 despite a century by Subham Sharma. Basant Mohanty was the most successful Odisha bowler, scalping four wickets for 62 runs. He was well supported by left-arm spinner Dhiraj Singh and pacer Alok Mangaraj. Odisha were 55 for three in the second innings when the match ended in a draw.
