  BAA girls, CDAA boys win state youth titles

Bhubaneswar Athletic Association (BAA) girls and Cuttack District Athletic Association (CDAA) boys emerged champions in the 27th Youth State Basketball Championship, which concluded at Barabati Stadium here today. In the finals, BAA girls crushed Rovers Club (Cuttack) 52-15, while CDAA boys prevailed over Celtics Club (Cuttack) 79-57.

Earlier in the boys` semifinals, Cuttack District Athletic Association beat Khurda District Basketball Association 52-27, while Celtics Club got the better of Odisha Students Club (Cuttack) 74-60. In the quarterfinals, Odisha Students Club beat Ganjam District Athletic Association 75-53, Cuttack District Athletic Association got the better of Samanta Chandra Sekhar Club (Cuttack) 71-42, Khurda District Basketball Association eliminated Rourkela Steel Plant 48-36 and Celtics Club defeated KIIT University 50-43.

 

In the girls’ semifinals, BAA thrashed Club the Entertainer (Cuttack) 50-29, while Rovers Club prevailed over KIIT University 25-16.

BAA girl Urbashi Mallick and CDAA boy Siba Sankar Behera were adjudged best players of the tournament. Barabati MLA Debasish Samantaray handed over the trophies in the presence of Odisha Basketball Association secretary Ashok Kumar Sahu and host Cuttack Basketball Association organising secretary Ashok Kumar Sahoo.
